What causes cabinet paint to peel or show brush marks?

Grease residue, poor adhesion, thick application, and rapid drying can also leave brush marks or weak spots. We check the existing finish, clean the surface, repair damage, and prepare the cabinet parts before applying new coats.

Cabinet Painting for Boulevard Park Properties

This page focuses on cabinet work, not full-home repainting. The right choice depends on the condition of the doors, frames, existing coating, hardware, and surrounding surfaces.

A cabinet finish may fail when grease remains on the surface or sanding stops too soon. We check those conditions before preparing the work area, so the estimate reflects the repairs and coating steps the cabinets need.

Some cabinets need painting. Others need refacing or carpentry work because the material is damaged. We explain that distinction during the consultation and develop a written project agreement.

  • Check cabinet doors, frames, edges, and existing finish.
  • Identify grease residue, peeling areas, brush marks, and surface damage.
  • Confirm whether painting, refacing, or carpentry work fits the cabinets.
  • Review color, finish, access, protection, repairs, and cleanup needs.

Commercial clients can plan cabinet work around the needs of their property.

How we approach cabinet painting decisions

Surface condition before color choice

The existing coating matters more than color alone. We inspect adhesion, grease, peeling, and damage before setting the preparation scope. Painting is the wrong job when cabinet parts need replacement or major carpentry repair.

Protection around cabinet work

Counters, floors, walls, and nearby fixtures need protection while doors and frames are prepared. We organize the work area before repairs and finish application begin.

Written scope for the project

Our detailed written estimates explain the planned cabinet work and related preparation. This gives residential and commercial clients a clear basis for the project agreement.

These guys did an awesome job! They have a well trained team that works closely together to get the job done on time and on budget. They also did a number of other repairs on the interior and exterior ( removed dry rot, repair drywall, etc.) before they could even start the painting. I would highly recommend them!

Questions about cabinet painting work

How does the first cabinet visit help set the estimate?

The in-home meeting lets us inspect the cabinet doors, frames, finish, access, and nearby surfaces. We look for peeling, grease, damaged edges, and repair needs before writing the project scope. You can also discuss color, finish, protection, refacing, and related carpentry work during the consultation.

Which cabinet parts need separate attention during painting?

Cabinet doors, frames, edges, profiles, and hardware areas need separate checks before coating. Flat panels may show brush marks, while edges may peel when the old finish lacks adhesion. We assess each part and include the needed preparation or repair in the written estimate.

When is refacing a better fit than painting for Cabinet Painting?

Refacing is a better fit when the cabinet surfaces or parts need replacement beyond a new coating. Painting suits cabinets with sound parts that need a prepared finish. We inspect the material and damage, then explain whether painting, refacing, or carpentry work matches the property.

Why do thick coats leave visible brush marks?

Thick coats can hold brush marks because the finish does not level evenly before it dries. Rapid drying and an uneven base can make the marks more visible. We check the surface and application conditions, then set preparation and finish steps that fit the cabinet material.

Who provides cabinet painting for homes and businesses?

PainterSammamishwa.com provides cabinet painting for residential and commercial clients. We handle consultation, written estimates, work-area protection, preparation, repairs, finish application, cleanup, and final review. The project scope explains which cabinet surfaces and related services are included.

What changes the cost of cabinet painting on this job?

Cabinet condition, preparation needs, repairs, access, protection, finish requirements, and the number of doors and frames change the project cost. We review those factors during the free consultation and in-home meeting. Our detailed written estimate then reflects the agreed scope.
